Alright, looks like a few peeop are doing the old Hammer Dirt Road Loop this Sat. AM.
Meet: ERBC Time: 8 AM Route: Frierson Dirt Road Loop (see Hammers instructions below) Distance: 65 miles If you want to meet us at the Frierson truck stop it will take 16 miles off the route. Post up. Here is the Frierson Dirt Loop. Just over 49 miles. I strongly suggest you go to MSN map thingie and follow it along to get an idea of where you will be going. I will print these instructions out for riders who haven't already done so. 2.2 Truck stop on 175 north to Gravel Point, just below Frierson. Turn right on Gravel then right on Friendship. 7.6 Gravel Point to Friendship to Red Lick. Red Lick is road to the right after second RR crossing on Friendship. Turn Right. 4.1 Red Lick to 509. 1.3 509 is paved. Go across lake. Turn right on Sloan 7.0 Sloan to LA 175. Turn right, north, on 175. This is your first bailout point. From here north to the truck stop staging point is about ten miles. 1.6 175 to 3015. Turn left, west, on 3015. 4.3 miles on 3015 to Stagecoach. Stagecoach is the right hand turn where 3015 bends sharply left. 1.7 north on Stagecoach to Grand Cane Firetower Rd. Turn left. You will know you did this correctly when, immediately after the left turn, you will see a double, metal pipeline on the right. 1.8 miles west on Stagecoach to Firetower Rd. Turn right, north. 1.4 on Firetower to Bethlehem. Firetower will have made a left hand bend to the west, so your right turn on Bethlehem will be north. 1.5 miles north on Bethlehem. It will bend several times. You will turn left, north on Ferguson. If you see a J Ranch sign on your left, you missed the turn. Turn around and go back about two hundred yards. 1.9 miles north on Ferguson to Hwy 5. Turn left. (This is another bail out point. You can turn right on 5 to 175 and then left to get back to the truck stop.) 0.8 miles west on Hwy 5 to Jesse Latin Rd. Turn right. You will now be on the prettiest part of the ride. There is a nice cemetery to visit right up the road. 5.1 miles on a curving Jesse Latin to Red Bluff . Turn right, east. 4.8 miles on Red Bluff to 175. Turn right, south. 2.0 miles back to truck stop. |

there is a store that we could go to if needed. We would have to detour on hwy 5 at mile 37.5 in Gloster west to Kickapoo. It would probably add an extra 4-5 miles round trip if we needed to stop.
We can make the call tomorrow if necessary but I plan on bringing everything I need |

FYI: Another option... Some riders are driving to the Frierson Post Office to meet us at 8:35-8:40.
